Networking is an important part of professional life no matter what industry you’re in. In transportation, your drivers have a lot of opportunities to meet other professionals outside of conventions and networking events, but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t attend some events if they can.
Truck drivers can meet other truckers at truck stops, rest stops, while waiting for freight to be loaded or unloaded at their destinations, or at networking events. It is also important for your dispatchers, supervisors, fleet managers, safety officers, and other employees to attend networking opportunities and events when possible. Networking isn’t just for people looking for new jobs. It can be an opportunity for your employees to meet others in the industry and talk about business. Sending your employees to trucking conventions can help foster strong relationships within the industry. These relationships can often lead to unexpected benefits for everyone involved. From finding new jobs or job candidates to creating new customers to learning about trends in the industry, your employees and your company will benefit from these events.
Truck drivers and anyone in the trucking industry can go to these events. Truckers, dispatchers, fleet maintenance supervisors, owner-operators, traffic managers, supply chain coordinators, regulatory professionals, even accountants and recruiters will often attend these trucking conventions.

July 14-16, 2022
This annual festival has been celebrating truckers since 1979. You will find over 175 exhibits this year with an antique truck display, super truck beauty contest, live country music, trucker olympics, fireworks, and the Iowa Pork Chop Cookout. Admission and parking are free.
July 15-16, 2022
With more than 45 exhibitors, the Expedite Expo is a trade show that focuses exclusively on the expedited trucking industry Learn about the newest expedite trucking industry news, equipment, career opportunities and products at this indoor convention in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Admission is free, but you must register in advance to attend.
August 31 - September 1, 2022
This convention hosts more than 300 exhibitors and has over 5,000 attendees. There will be hundreds of speakers from retail brands, logistics companies, and more. Standard admission is free, but if you want access to all the events, you’ll have to purchase a ticket.
September 7-9, 2022
Attendees at this conference receive 16 hours of educational content tailored specifically for private fleet safety professionals, networking opportunities with over 275 safety pros, and more. You can even request copies of all the presentation slide decks via email. See their website for registration fees and information.
September 18-22, 2022
You have probably heard of the CVSA because of their annual Roadcheck. But they also host an annual convention that gathers government officials and industry professionals to affect meaningful changes to the overall culture of transportation safety throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States. Admission fees can be found on the registration page of their website.
October 20-22, 2022
NASTC is dedicated to smaller trucking companies, so you can expect their conference in Nashville to focus on issues facing small motor carriers. They will have events focused on safety, software, maintenance, federal regulations, and more. Attendance is $395 per person, and you must register in advance on their site.
October 22-26, 2022
This event is expected to attract thousands of trucking's top decision-makers for policy discussions, educational sessions, interactive exhibits, and opportunities to meet with colleagues in sunny San Diego, California. Registration for attendance will open later this year.
October 24-26, 2022
This event is for fleet managers and vendors to share ideas. It will have lots of new tech and smart fleet products. It is limited to 50 fleets, so register ASAP on their website.
November 13-16, 2022
With over 40 educational sessions on critical transportation issues and trends, the Accelerate! conference is focused on bringing information on leadership, professional development, talent management, operations, and sales to women in the trucking industry. Admission rates vary for in-person and virtual attendance. See their website for details.
